Lost

Little Mabel was lost.Having let go of her mother’s hand, she had tottered off on her own little curious adventure. The Supermarket World is great adventure terrain to an innocent, unassuming one. Before long, she’d whizzed by the many shelves of perishable goods – the chocolates, the detergents, the vegetables and the frozen foods. Then came the menacing looking home appliances, accompanied by their huge colourful signs that boasted of “The Best Steam Iron” and “Most Efficient Dust Removal Tool”. Beyond that, the pretty rows of shiny saucers and cups, with paintings of flowers and birds. All teasing her, tempting her to reach her hand out and touch them. She was delirious at this first real shot of freedom. Everything was new. And all of it was beautiful to her eyes. All the while being totally oblivious to the frantic Mother combing the aisles in search of her. But so was the rest of the world.
